Every day, people across Germany develop new ideas with creativity, passion and ingenuity. The “Germany – Land of Ideas” initiative and Deutsche Bank are honouring innovative, forward-looking projects in the annual competition ”Landmarks in the Land of Ideas”. Good ideas are sought from all regions of Germany that already provide answers today to the challenges of tomorrow. The aim of the competition is to provide a stage for Germany’s most valuable resource: the ideas in people’s minds. For the first time, the competition in 2013 reflects the annual theme, “Ideas for the City”, honouring projects that provide solutions to the challenges facing cities and regions in the future.
This book introduces you to the 100 winning projects in the six subject areas of the competition: Business, Culture, Science, Environment, Education and Society. At the beginning of each chapter, six well-known experts look into the challenges that cities and regions are facing in Germany.
